Wrestling duels
A signup sheet will be sent out through email and through the group me app. You can signup for the duel up through the Tuesday before the duel takes place, including at the weigh in Tuesday evening. Please sign your child up with the weight they would like to participate at.
Weigh ins will be held on the Tuesday night prior to the duels. All wrestlers should report to practice that evening to weigh in. Any wrestler that signs up to wrestle at a weight where he is the only wrestler at that weight, then he or she will not be required to make weight that evening. On the Tuesday evening if weigh ins, each child and parent will be provided with the names of whom they would wrestle off at the given weight and will be allowed to adjust their weight that evening. A wrestler can choose to wrestle at his weight class or up two additional weight classes. In order to qualify to wrestle off for a weight class, each wrestler will be given a one pound allowance Tuesday evening. Please note that your child will be expected to make the actual weight at the duel, but a 1 pound exception will be allowed at the Tuesday weigh in. Once your child selects the weight they wish to compete for, there will be no changes to this after Tuesday evening.
All wrestlers that need to wrestle off will be informed on Tuesday evening to report to practice on Wednesday for practice. After warmups and stretching all wrestlers that need to wrestle off will be separated from the other wrestlers and wrestle offs will be conducted. If there are more then 2 wrestlers competing for a spot the coaches and/or board members will devise a system to determine byes or whom wrestles whom in a fair manner. The wrestle offs will consist of three one minute periods. A coach or board member will officiate the match, however the coach or board member that officiates the match shall not have a child in that particular match. Overtime shall be a 1 minute period starting neutral followed by a 30 second sudden death period. The wrestler that scored first will be provided choice in the ride out period and if there has been no score then there will be a coin flip to determine choice.
CCNS would like to encourage all wrestlers that lose a wrestle off to still attend the duels match and to bring their wrestling gear. Should a wrestler that qualified for a weight get sick or not make weight, we are able to substitute other wrestlers into that spot at the time of weigh in. Even if your child does not end up wrestling in that particular duel, this is a great team event and will create a bonding experience for all that attend.
